Qualifications
NASM PES (performance enhancement specialist) – will qualify Aug 2011
One of the top fitness qualifications in the USA today the qualification covers –
An elite training program for fitness and enhanced athletic performance, the NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (NASM PES) is designed for athletic trainers, chiropractors, physical therapists, coaches and other sports professionals who want to work with players at all levels, from the secondary education and university tier, to professional and Olympic level athletes.
SNVQ Sports Management
Run in conjunction with playing professional soccer this focused mainly on soccer coaching, Fitness Session planning and health education.
Fitness Exercise to Music Scotland
AKA Hi/Lo aerobics. As well as learning to teach group classes this included many aspects of fitness ie physiology, the various types of stretching and reasoning behind them as well as biomechanics.
Boxercise Instructor
This qualification allows me to teach boxing classes and circuits to groups and personal clients. Nb I have also attended many workshops for coaching and fitness training to continue my development.
Fitness Career
1998 – Present
Adult Group Classes
After qualifying as an aerobics instructor I began my own business ―Nrgzone Fitness‖ where I hired local school and church halls and taught classes to adults. Classes taught included Hi/Lo, Toning and box circuit. I also taught aforementioned classes in large chain clubs such as Bannatynes, David Lloyds and LA Fitness. All classes were well attended and led to me being sought after by companies such as Nike for fitness instructor promotions.
Youth Fitness and Education
My company ―Nrgzone Fitness spent days in local schools on there government driven ―health days. I would take kids classes from nursery to 12 year olds and would speak to them about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle as well as teaching an aerobics/dance class. The whole school would then present this class to parents and teachers at the end of the day. This proved so successful that I was asked to work in conjunction with a government initiative.
Personal Training
I work with individuals and small groups specializing weight loss, strength and sports specific goals. I am extremely knowledgeable in Speed, quickness and agility training and am adding to my knowledge base by studying NASM’s PES qualification which will allow me to train athletes up to Olympic level.
Exercise to Music Education
I recently co tutored the exercise to music course at Stevenson College, Edinburgh. This involved teaching choreography, musicality, physiology and biomechanics.
